Demi

Lovato that is. For those of you with kids, tweens, and teens. You are probably very familiar who Demi Lovato is. She starred in Camp Rock and now has her own show on Disney Channel called Sonny with a Chance. Anyhow, she is one of the Disney Kids, as I call them, who is singing and touring the nation this summer.

The girls all entered a contest at our local movie theatre to win tickets. Late last month, I received an email stating that my child won tickets and to call a number to "claim my prize." Honestly, I almost deleted the email and didn't call! I didn't know they had entered the contest- they went to the movies with a friend when JT was about a week old and I was at home. So I was thinking that this was some type of scam or sales ploy. Thankfully, I decided to call on a chance it was legit, and it was!

We won 4 tickets to the concert for Demi and David Archuleta was her opening act. When I told the girls- man the screaming that ensued was unbelieveable!!! They were thrilled to say the least. It was so awesome that we won and were able to go.

All had a great time! This was Courtney and Lindsay's first concert. Sarah's first was to a Hillary Duff back in Fresno- another example of a "Disney kid" :) Late night for a school evening, but I know to them, well worth it.

Dip in the Pool

Recently, JT had his first official trip to the pool. It was a typical humid, hot summer day and we were invited to swim at the community pool of our friends. We thought this would be one of the best opportunities for him to get a brief dip before the season ends.

As you can see, JT was well protected from the sun with large brimmed hat, trunks, and even a swim-type shirt. JT was pretty flat in his response- he didn't scream "What are you doing to me?" but he didn't smile in delight like he does at bath time. So we just gave him a few moments, snapped the pictures and made another note for the record books! I think next year he will have more fun.

First Day of School

Well, school started here last week and I'm just getting around to posting about it. That's life with 4 kids- 1 of which is a newborn! Hard to believe that another school year is upon us once again. Time has flown by since life with school-age children in the house. I feel like it was just a few years ago that I was Sarah's age- I'm sure a feeling many of you can relate to!

This year ,the girls are at 3 different schools! Courtney in 5th at the Elementary, Lindsay in 6th at the Middle School, and Sarah in 11th at the High School. Here in Tennessee, Middle School is 6th-8th, as opposed to the Jr. High of 7th-8th in California. So a little different, but okay. Part of me thinks going to Middle School in 6th slightly pushes the kids to grow up a bit more quickly- no recess, 7 different classes, more homework, being around older kids, etc. Seeing Lindsay going there make me realize that our girls are quickly becoming young women. A hard thing to come to grips with on some levels- I wish they could stay young a while longer :)

Here are some pictures of the girls from their First Day:

Double Digits!

Our baby girl, Courtney, has officially joined the double digit club! Yesterday, August 5th was her 10th birthday. It also happened to be the first day of school, but she had been so excited about that once she saw the schedule last year. So glad she has a great love of school and learning.

Courtney was able to celebrate her birthday in class by bringing cookies for the students. At home we celebrated with a few presents and a cake that she and I made. Courtney chose a yellow marble because she knows the only kind of cake Sarah likes is yellow. She was being so thoughtful to think of her oldest sister in making her choice. In keeping with family tradition, she gets to choose any meal or restaurant for her birthday meal. This weekend we will be going to Courtney's favorite restaurant- La Loma's! For being in Tennessee, its the closest to great Mexican food that we miss from California.

Here are a few pictures from Courtney's Birthday! Happy Birthday Court-Court!!!

2 Months!

This has been a very fast summer! John Thomas is now officially 2 months old. JT had his well check yesterday and he is a very healthy little baby. He weighed in at 13 pounds and 2 ounces and measured 23 1/2 inches long. He is in the 80th and 70th % for weight and height for babies his age. I think John's future dream of a football player is beginning to take shape already- ha ha!

JT also had to get 3 shots and 1 dropper dose of immunizations. The oral meds went well, but the shots- well I'm sure you can guess. His face turned a shade of red that I have not seen before. He recovered after a few minutes of being soothed by Mommy :)

He has hit all of his milestones and goes back in 2 months. Its been wonderful this past week as JT has begun smiling at all of us, cooing, and getting more strength in his neck. The newborn phase is nearly over and the "fun" baby stuff is about to begin!
