Book Lover

I've been trying to do my best and post regularly, but it's been a struggle. Traditionally, this time of the year is one of the busiest times of the year. Back to school, volleyball games for Courtney ( 2-4 days a week), JT's soccer (3 days a week), my work, John is almost always travelling M-F and any other odds and ends that pop up. Thankfully this crazy time is usually only from August- October. I'm in the home stretch of crazy town!

Through all of the craziness we have been able to get JT to one of his favorite places on a pretty regular places- the Hendersonville Library. Most of the time, it's been Lindsay taking JT to the library, which is a special treat, but I took JT this past weekend.

JT has begun to love having chapter books read to him at bedtime. We usually read 1 chapter in 2 different books every night. In recent months, JT's favorite books are The Magic Tree House series and My Weird School series. On this visit, JT wanted to change things up a bit and he wanted to check out a Junie B. Jones book. They have been reading them in school and he wanted to have one to read at home. Taking JT to the library is so different than it was just a year ago- he has very specific titles, subject matter or authors he wants to find.

After he checked out his books, the max limit of 5, I thought I'd take a photo of him and his latest treasures. I love that he is developing a love of reading just like his sisters have.

Lunch lady

This year, I'm getting the pleasure of helping out during lunch for the kindergarten classes. I'll be going once a month to help open up packages, containers, juice boxes, etc as these sweeties are figuring out how things work at school.

The school district has a new visitor check in system where you must provide and scan your drivers license and then this cool name tag prints with my photo, name and date. I scan the tag when I'm leaving the school to check out.

When JT came into the cafeteria, his face lit up and he waved so big and yelled, "Mommy! Hi Mommy!" We took a quick photo before it was time for me to help.

This is what a lunch with 6 kindergarten classes looks like- controlled chaos!

The kids have already learned in the first few weeks they raise their hand and one of the nearly half dozen staff/volunteers will come and help them. We even had some excitement during that day when a student lost his tooth while he was eating!

JT and his new friend, Brooks. They are in the same class together and Brooks lives just a few houses down from us! I think we will be seeing a lot of Brooks this year as JT talks about him every day and how they play together at recess. I'm excited to have a new friend of JT's that lives near us- I think we will have some play dates soon!

Kicking off JT's Soccer Season

Today, JT started his 3rd season of soccer. He's been so excited for today and thankfully the rain that came yesterday passed and we had a beautiful cool fall day.

JT is on Team Brazil for U-7 boys

It was also extra special because Sarah was in town visiting!!!

The boys are starting to develop some improved skills and spreading out a bit.

Though the occasional bunch ball happens ;)

This little boy in the white jersey was giving some serious body english to JT.

Looks like JT can give it back- LOL. He needs to work on being more subtle in his approach.

 Focused on that ball.

Running up the line with the ball.

JT hugging his teammate after he was hit in the face with the ball.

JT played very well- he seems to be suited for a midfield or defender right now. He's steady, determined and can clear the ball when on their side of the field.

The game ended with a 2-2 tie against Team England.

Cool slow motion video Sarah recorded of JT in motion.
