In looking at this blog title you might think, "What on earth is SB&J?" Was it a typo? Some code word for a destination? It isn't any of those! What would you think of if I wrote PB&J instead? Peanut butter and jelly I bet. Well, for a little boy who is allergic to peanuts, we can't experience the simple joy of anything PB.
Thanks to some parents that Sarah works for whose boys are also allergic to peanuts, we discovered Sunbutter! It is a "peanut butter" made out of sunflower seeds! Sounds kind of odd I know, but I was willing to give it a try for JT. We ended up finding the SB in the "organic/healthy" food section of the grocery store.
I was so excited for JT to try his Sunbutter. I gave it a taste and while it does have a slight sunflower aftertaste, it is remarkably similar to traditional peanut butter.
His first Sunbutter and jelly sandwich!!!
Ready to dive in!
JT inhaled his SB&J!!!
Sunbutter also leaves the same messes on faces :)
This is the expression we get now when we ask JT to say "cheese". Cheese indeed!
JT also was able to expereince another yummy combo- SB on graham crackers.
Love those chubby cheeks enjoying his new snack!
